William KIDD 1645 -1701
Born in Renfrewshire, Scotland.
Always claiming to be a privateer and not a pirate. KIDD was captain of the Blessed William when his crew mutined and took his ship to New York.
He married a wealthy widow and had two daughters.
Should he have chosen not to return to sea he would have had a very comfortable life. However, he choose the sea and after accidently killing his gunner he became a man wanted both for piracy and murder.
His eventual capture and trial without representation resulted with KIDD being executed, ironically the first rope used broke.
His treasure is still sort after today.
